Project Gigantico Crash
The Project Gigantico Crash was the failure of a giant military walker built by Blue Ice Industries, which came to rest in the Arctic Semicircle in 2600. The wreck is now the landmark known as the Frozen Giant.
Background
Blue Ice Industries, under its founder Bob Winters, developed Project Gigantico as a giant military walker. Its purpose was to force a heavy ground route south to the Wet Lands, across the ice of the Arctic Semicircle and the Mono Monte ridge. The Pioneers had already reached the Wet Lands by air aboard The Copper Maiden in 2565; Project Gigantico was a later attempt to open the south to overland transport.
What Happened
During its trial the walker failed in the Arctic Semicircle and was abandoned where it fell. It did not reach the Wet Lands.
Aftermath
The abandoned walker froze in place and became known as the Frozen Giant. Decades later Blue Ice Industries developed the crash site, building the Ice Berg Circuit beside it in 2650 and converting the wreck into the Blue Ice Bot Arena in 2654.
