King Aldric of Lachsenhausen
King Aldric of Lachsenhausen was an expansionist king whose annexation of Fatima in 1228 directly caused the death of Lucien Alvaro de Castillon’s parents and set the entire Avari story in motion. He never knew Lucien and played no direct role in the events that followed. He was poisoned by Lucien through contaminated grain shipments in 1251.
Background
Newly crowned king of Lachsenhausen, intent on territorial expansion through engineered instability rather than open invasion. His sons Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen were later allies with the man whose family he unknowingly destroyed.
History
The Fatima Annexation (1228): Fatima was a Luxemburg town sitting on the Lachsenhausen border. Aldric instigated riots within Fatima, then used the unrest as justification to march soldiers in under the pretext of restoring order. The military occupation effectively annexed the town. During the suppression, homes were burned. Lucien Alvaro de Castillon’s parents were killed inside the Castillon family home. Aldric had no specific knowledge of the Castillon family or the consequences of the operation at that level.
Death: Died 1251. Lucien Alvaro de Castillon had been contaminating his food supply through corrupted grain shipments for several years. Only Ava Montclair suspected Lucien’s involvement.
