Lucien Alvaro de Castillon
Born: 1214, Fatima Died: 1362, Bellum Castle tunnels, stabbed by Severin Falkenrath Origin: Fatima, Luxemburg border town Affiliation: Co-founder of The Avari
Lucien Alvaro de Castillon was the primary strategist of The Avari and the architect of the faction's political and economic empire. His vendetta against King Aldric of Lachsenhausen set the founding events of the Avari in motion. He was unaware of Severin Falkenrath's plan to kill the other members and consolidate all five shares of the Curse of Ravana.
Background¶
Born into a modest scholarly family in Fatima, a Luxemburg town bordering Lachsenhausen. In 1228, King Aldric of Lachsenhausen instigated riots in Fatima to justify a military annexation. During the suppression, soldiers burned the Castillon family home with Lucien's parents inside. Lucien escaped with physical scars.
In 1229, he was found wounded on the roads by Armano Salvius, a travelling merchant who took him in. In 1232, Lucien convinced Armano to extend credit to a lord who proved bankrupt. Armano was financially ruined and died that winter. Consumed by guilt, Lucien fled to Bellum Castle.
History¶
Met Severin Falkenrath at Bellum Castle in 1233. The two formed a cautious alliance, each shaped by loss. In 1238, Lucien married Ava Montclair, whose family capital and connections enabled the Bellum Castle Trade Route in 1241.
At the Glaceus Arena tournament in 1243, Lucien and Severin met Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen. The four became the founding members of The Avari in 1257.
Lucien slowly poisoned King Aldric of Lachsenhausen through contaminated grain shipments. Aldric died in 1251. Ava Montclair died in childbirth in 1249, warning Lucien in her final moments that he was becoming what he hated. Their son Elias Castillon survived.
At the Ravana Ruins in 1282, all five Avari received a share of the Curse of Ravana. Lucien was unaware Severin Falkenrath had already tested the energy alone and planned to kill the others.
Following Severin's murder of Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen at Mount Kings in 1361, a villager revolt erupted. Lucien and Severin fled through the tunnels beneath Bellum Castle. Severin stabbed Lucien in the tunnels and absorbed his share.
