Bellum Castle Trade Route

The Bellum Castle Trade Route was the first secure commercial passage through the mountain passes near Bellum Castle, established in 1241 by Lucien Alvaro de Castillon and Severin Falkenrath using the capital and family connections of Ava Montclair. It was the economic foundation of the Avari Empire and the mechanism through which Lachsenhausen was absorbed.

Founding & Purpose

Established 1241. The route provided the first reliable passage through mountain passes that had previously been too hazardous for commercial traffic. Cliffhanger was the first settlement connected to the route. Its success gave Lucien Alvaro de Castillon and Severin Falkenrath credibility in merchant and noble circles.

History

1241: Established using Ava Montclair's family capital and trade network.

1243: The route's commercial success brings Lucien and Severin to the Glaceus Arena tournament, where they meet Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen.

1258–1264: The Avari use the trade route as economic leverage to absorb Lachsenhausen — manipulating exports and exploiting the kingdom's dependency on the route.

Post-Avari: The route persists through Luxemburg's formation and industrialisation. Cliffhanger maintains its commercial position.
