The Pioneers are a faction formed in Lichdenstein by sole survivors from various origins. A later generation of the group operates out of Pioneers Outpost in Frangfurd.

History

In the Frangfurd era, a later generation rebuilt Pioneers Outpost in 2540 and introduced hot-air-balloon travel to nearby settlements such as Pichon. In 2563 they completed The Copper Maiden, an all-copper airship, and in 2565 flew it south over Mono Monte — the first recorded crossing — to reach the Wet Lands. There they founded Camp 0 at the Ravana Ruins to research the Curse of Ravana, building the Pioneers Airstrip (later Citadel Airport) and the Camp 0 laboratory (later the Camp 0 Old Laboratory). They used the nearby village of Great Question as a hub and testing ground, rescuing some of its surviving villagers. The base was later funded by Kupfer Guild Inc..
