Vulcan Islands

The Vulcan Islands are a remote chain of volcanic islands far to the southeast of Luxemburg, separated by a small ocean. They are the location of the Castillon Rift and, as the site of Severin Falkenrath's final fusion, contain all five shares of the Curse of Ravana within their earth.

Type: Island chain Era: Avari through modern Luxemburg Location: Far southeast, in a small enclosed ocean Status: Remote (Avari era); tourist destination (modern era)

History

Avari era: The islands were inhabited by locals but unknown to most of the mainland. Elias Castillon used them as a hiding place after his father's death in 1362, exploiting their obscurity. Severin Falkenrath eventually tracked him there. Elias threw himself into a volcanic fissure — the energy release forming the Castillon Rift — rather than allow Severin to take his share.

Post-Avari: The islands remained sparsely inhabited and largely unknown to the broader population of Luxemburg for centuries.

Modern era: The Vulcan Islands were developed into a luxury tourist destination by the Vulcan Resort, drawing wealthy visitors with mineral baths heated by volcanic activity and dramatic cliff and mountain formations produced by the Castillon Rift. Their connection to Avari history is not publicly known.

~21st century: Severin Falkenrath's final extraction attempt fused him into the earth here. All five shares of the Curse of Ravana are now entrenched in the land.

Notes

The indigenous population of the Vulcan Islands in the Avari era is undocumented. Did they have knowledge of the Castillon Rift, or of the Curse of Ravana?
