Luxemburg
Luxemburg is a nation with roots predating the Avari era, originally a smaller state bordered and surrounded by Lachsenhausen. Following the Avari Empire's collapse in 1365, it re-emerged as the dominant name for the consolidating successor states, formally unifying in 1701. It rose to become an industrialised modern state before collapsing progressively through extraction activities targeting the entrenched Curse of Ravana energy across the Vulcan Islands and beyond.

History¶
Pre-1228: Luxemburg existed as a smaller state. Fatima was one of its border towns, sitting on the Lachsenhausen boundary. Lachsenhausen was the larger surrounding kingdom.
1228: King Aldric of Lachsenhausen engineered the annexation of Fatima, bringing it under Lachsenhausen control. Luxemburg's response is undocumented.
1258–1264: The Avari — including the Lachsenhausen princes Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen — absorbed Lachsenhausen and the broader region, subsuming Luxemburg into the Avari Empire.
1365: The Avari Empire splintered. Successor kingdoms formed across former Avari territory. The Avari became legend, then myth, then cautionary tale.
1600–1701: Successor kingdoms — including territories of both the original Luxemburg and former Lachsenhausen — coalesced under the Luxemburg name. The capital was established over the ruins of the old Avari stronghold.
1701: Formal unification of the consolidated territory as the nation-state of Luxemburg.
1800s: Industrialisation. Infrastructure and railway expansion. See The Rail Expansion. Dead zones left by Avari-era energy residue were dismissed as natural geological phenomena.
1933: Neutron NRG founded by S. Falken (Severin Falkenrath) in Cliffhanger. The company rapidly dominated Luxemburg's economy.
1933–21st century: Each extraction attempt by Neutron NRG, Calcite Industries, and Skank Industries caused incremental environmental damage. Infrastructure and ecology degraded progressively.
~21st century: Severin Falkenrath's final extraction attempt fused him into the earth. The accumulated environmental damage continued without active cause.
~2300: The collapse completed. Luxemburg ceased to function as a nation. The land was resettled by dispersed survivor communities, eventually forming Lichdenstein.
