Bellum Castle

Bellum Castle — also known as Balls Castle — was the site where Lucien Alvaro de Castillon and Severin Falkenrath first met in 1233 and the operational hub of the Avari Empire. The Bellum Castle Trade Route, established in 1241, was centred here. The castle's tunnels were the site of Lucien's murder in 1362.

History

1232–1233: Lucien Alvaro de Castillon fled to Bellum Castle after Armano Salvius's ruin and death. He met Severin Falkenrath here in 1233.

1241: The Bellum Castle Trade Route was established using Ava Montclair's family capital, making the castle the hub of the first secure mountain passage in the region. Cliffhanger became the first commercial connection point.

1243: The route's success led to introductions with Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen at the Glaceus Arena tournament.

Avari era: The castle served as the operational headquarters for Avari Empire administration. Castle de Castillon — built by Lucien Alvaro de Castillon — is located within or adjacent to this site.

1362: Following Severin Falkenrath's murder of Leopold von Lachsenhausen and Victor von Lachsenhausen at Mount Kings, a villager revolt broke out. Lucien Alvaro de Castillon and Severin fled through the castle's tunnels. Severin stabbed Lucien in the tunnels and absorbed his share.

Notes

The tunnel system beneath Bellum Castle is underdeveloped — how extensive is it, and was it purpose-built or pre-existing? The relationship between Bellum Castle and Castle de Castillon — whether they are the same structure or adjacent — is also undocumented. What made the mountain passes dangerous before 1241?
